Tidefall Lore
A Dark NEW FANTASY
Severed from the world for 50 years, Tidefall stands in the eye of a colossal tempest. In taverns, villagers curse the king who gave up on breaking the storm, and in courts, nobles cling to crumbling titles. In this nation divided, it is clear that the old ways are dying, and that something older still is clawing its way to the surface.
Waking on a storm-battered beach, bloodied and bruised, ship lost and crew dead, it might seem the odds are stacked against you, but you are Storm-Touched, one of the rare few capable of channelling the power of the storm naturally.
Politicians vie for power, researchers commit atrocities in the name of progress, and the goblin hordes rally behind a rising warlord. Only one thing is certain: the storm’s power will decide the future of Tidefall.

The Storm

The swirling mass of dark clouds and violent gales have claimed thousands in the five decades since its arrival, but those few who are pulled in by its unnatural currents and live to tell the tale speak of a nightmarish hellscape: ships torn asunder by lightning, eldritch creatures from the deep, and visions of unending fire. Most are dismissed as Storm-Mad, but their stories echo with disturbing consistency.
Rarer still are the Storm-Touched – survivors who return sharper, stronger, and somehow attuned to the dormant powers beneath Tidefall, and their eyes marked by the Storm-sign. Outcasted, the Storm-Touched are revered by some, hunted by others, and feared by all.
Having scarred Tidefall’s skies for two generations, a scattered cult of pilgrims, madmen and zealots have taken to worshipping it and those it has marked as its chosen.

Madness and The call of the storm
Clad in tattered dark blue robes, the storm worshippers roam the coastline, declaring the storm a nameless deity, and a living force that heralds the end of times. For these fanatics, every clap of thunder is a promise of the world’s final reckoning.
Chanting prayers to appease the storm, they live in scattered groups. Outcasts by choice, they often reside in squalid camps or wander city streets as beggars, viewed with a mix of fear and pity by the rest of Tidefall.
The zealous sect makes perilous pilgrimages south, to Stormpoint, the nearest stretch of land to the stormwall, hoping to hear their god’s sonnet on the wind. In the courts of Veloria, the island’s capital, a more militant faction stirs, intent on ushering in a new world order.

THE People of tidefall
CONFLICT, CONSPIRACY, AND politics
Despite being enveloped in an apocalyptic storm, some of Tidefall’s greatest threats loom in flesh and blood. General Darion and Governor Eramos are the de facto wardens of the south and north, waging a quiet war of influence.

Meet Darion Quince
Darion is the ruler of Sarnath, bastion of the South. A fortress city built from rare dark stone and sits strategically on the great river Sarn. At the centre of the city, the impenetrable Black Keep rises, set against a backdrop of mountain peaks and dominating the landscape.
Famous for being an impressive tactician, progressive builder and advocate for rapid development. Darion is also an unforgiving authoritarian. Blunt, efficient and a forthright politician who rules Sarnath with an iron fist.
On the surface it appears that the southern and northern regions of Tidefall are in a state of peace, however propaganda from Darion’s brother Eramos, the equally ambitious and infinitely more charismatic merchant governor of Veloria, has added a bitter tension to any trade or cooperation between the largest two city states on the island.

“My brother should not be dismissed lightly, for all his pomp and bluster, his schemes threaten the whole of the island.”

A World Within the Maelstrom
King Aleron II’s rule may span from the slums of Veloria’s bustling port to the bleak stone of Sarnath’s Black ramparts, but no throne can tame the wild heart of this land.
No corner of Tidefall is truly safe or fully understood. Beneath moss-covered ruins and sprawling wastelands, lost machines sleep in the darkness, powered by ancient and arcane technologies.
Whether you seek fame or survival, step lightly. Tidefall does not suffer the careless, and its secrets were never meant for the weak.
