Dear Adventurer
It’s true! We’re thrilled to announce the opportunity to play the pre-alpha version of the world’s first Living World Game.
Do you want to slay monsters? Earn the trust of companions and cross paths with villains? Burn down the whole town? Retire to your potato farm? In this November issue we’ll be sharing insights on the playtesting so far and explaining how you can get involved.
Players have been logging hours of gameplay already (some as many as 9+ per session!) whilst others have been making add-ons themselves. Our testers are diving into the depths of Ebstone and the wider world we’ve been writing to you about.
It’s an exciting time and has been a long time coming for us. We’re so grateful for all your patience as we put together the first public demo. So, if you want in or just to learn more about what’s in store, read on…
Playtesting Tidefall: the Scope

Playtesting lets you dive headfirst into the Region of Ebstone, in Tidefall’s Southern Province. A peninsula jutting into the Storm boundary, here the folk are downtrodden but surviving. Kobolds, skeletons, wolves, and even lindwyrms are far from the least of their worries since a troll has been sighted devastating farmsteads and stealing children. Your actions could make all the difference – but for good or for ill?
You are Gral the Mountain, a half-orc barbarian lately shipwrecked coming through the Storm. Your crew went mad and no one else seems to have survived. When you start the game, you’re thrown right in – it turns out the first people to find you were the Storm Worshippers, a cult who have angered the wrong army…
And not long after that, the whole region will be at your fingertips.
Some thoughts so far…

Your playtesting helps us improve Tidefall from the moment you click New Campaign.
As part of the onboarding and playtesting experience, you will be connected directly to the devs from day one. You’ll have the opportunity to tell us what you’ve enjoyed and what you’d like to see next – from the tech engine room making it all happen to the creatives in writing, music, and art stitching the world together.
Our playtesters have been taking Gral on some exciting, weird, and wonderful adventures already. Our current playtesters have said:
“Okay so that was a blast… got sucked into that way too easily! Can’t wait to keep going!”
“The game allows you to progress as quickly or as slowly as you like… This has made my first experience extremely enjoyable as I’m not stuck in a loop of too many small meaningless interactions. I also really enjoyed the background audio for the different locations. Helped to add ambiance to the game and was easy to get lost in.”
“I’ve loved the interaction with the NPCs, overall description of the environment and characters helping me feel immersed, lore seems interesting so far.”
“I really loved how the AI kept track of my actions consistently and responded well to my desires but still offered challenges to overcome.”
“I’m loving my play through. I really don’t want to stop/start a different campaign before I get to learn more Lore and romance a certain NPC lol.”
“I’ve played other AI games but I found the ability to keep the world, characters, and general story arc in mind was much better here.”
“This is exactly what I was hoping AI could do for text based RPGs.”
“I’ve loved exploring a world full of secrets and finding different secret locations. Having multiple choices with different outcomes.”
“Overall, the story was very consistent and enjoyable compared to other AI RPG adventures I’ve tried to experience. It’s very exciting and I want to play more.”
“The most fun parts were probably the story. It felt like the world reacted to my doings and remembered them. My actions had a meaning, and quests caused chain reactions that shaped what I could do. I love the music and the characters. There is so much potential!”
“I didn’t understand how big was the world until I dived into the wiki for the plugin… It’s freaking massive – even in this state…”
“The level of freedom and interactivity the game offers is exactly what I was hoping for.”
“You guys have something you hit the nail on the head here.”
